Event Details

University of California Cooperative Extension and the Santa Ynez River Water Conservation District are co-hosting a training course on June 7th in Santa Ynez (see flyer for details). The training, “Water Measurement and Reporting Course,” is authorized by Assembly Bill 589 and is intended to assist surface water diverters so that they comply with Senate Bill 88, which created new requirements for water reporting to the State Water Resource Control Board. Any individuals who divert 10 acre-feet or more of surface water annually are encouraged to attend. At the training, participants will:

  • learn more about reporting requirements for farms and ranches
  • understand what meters are appropriate for different situations
  • learn how to determine measurement equipment accuracy
  • develop an understanding of measurement weirs
  • learn how to calculate and report volume from flow data
