Dear Colleagues,
Following an interview process, assessment of the feedback collected from the search committee and seminar attendees, and my own careful review of application materials, I am requesting that the Vice Provost – Statewide Programs/Strategic Initiatives position be reposted so that we may solicit more candidates for consideration.
While a new position for UC ANR, the Vice Provost – Statewide Programs/Strategic Initiatives is a key position, particularly given our current strategic planning process. This individual will provide oversight, coordination and vision for our programmatic efforts and ensure that the tremendous amount of outstanding work already underway across the state not only continues but excels.
Although we saw several strong applicants, we want to be certain that we have done our due diligence in finding the very best person for this critical job.
I want to thank the search committee for the exceptional work they have done to date. I especially appreciate their continued willingness to search for that extraordinary leader who possesses the unique set of skills needed to build on UC ANR's current successes and direct our programs toward California's future needs.
The ideal candidate will be a leader who
- understands and appreciates the breadth of work conducted through UC ANR and the complexity of our partnerships across UC and California
- can create, gain buy-in to and deploy a strategic vision
- can quickly get up to speed, building on his or her past demonstrated expertise in strategic leadership and team building
- has extensive experience in managing a large number of intelligent, high-performing directors and supporting and empowering those directors to reach new heights
The Vice Provost – Statewide Programs/Strategic Initiatives position will be reopened for recruitment very soon. Please talk with colleagues who fit this description and encourage them to apply for this important leadership role.
Sincerely,
Glenda
Glenda Humiston
