Registration is now open for the Work Environment Assessment workshops

Jan 29, 2015

Dear Colleagues,

UC ANR has scheduled six workshops around the state to discuss the results of the Work Environment Assessment. In addition to sharing the assessment results and discussing their significance, we are taking this opportunity to move forward with the creation of an ANR Staff Assembly.

Register for the workshop in your area at http://ucanr.edu/weworkshop.

Workshop Objectives:

  • Share results of the 2012 Work Environment Assessment, by regional grouping.
  • Engage in discussion about what it means to have a welcoming and inclusive work environment.
  • Take part in a dialogue on ANR values, and how they could translate into Principles of Community. Identify 2 or 3 academic/staff employees to serve on a committee to direct the process for finalizing statewide Principles of Community for ANR.
  • Clarify the purpose and benefits of a Staff Assembly for ANR. Identify 2 or 3 staff employees to serve on a committee to develop the process for forming a statewide ANR Staff Assembly.

Survey results have been analyzed by regional groupings, and we are looking forward to engaging in discussions with you.  Each regional grouping includes ANR employees located in county offices (including county-paid staff), at Research and Extension Centers and on the campuses. Administrative units from Davis, Kearney and Oakland will have their own workshop.

As you know, California is a very large state, and some people will have to travel further than others to reach the workshop site. Because we will be reviewing data specific to each regional grouping, attendance at each workshop is limited to those employees in that specific grouping. Please refer to the map to find your regional grouping.

CE specialists are also encouraged to engage with their colleagues in the workshop in their area. Campus-based CE specialists received the campus version of the survey, and unfortunately, we were unable to extract their data for analysis.  Survey results for the Oakland-based staff, however, were extracted and have been merged with the statewide data.

Dates and locations of workshops by regional grouping:

  • South, San Diego – Monday, March 2
  • Central Valley, Kearney REC – Monday, March 9
  • Sacramento Valley, Davis – Tuesday, March 31 – note new date
  • North, Redding – Wednesday, April 15
  • Administrative Units, Davis – Wednesday, May 20
  • Coast, San Luis Obispo – Wednesday, May 27

Please register to attend – a positive and welcoming work environment is important to all of us. Travel expenses will be reimbursed according to ANR policy.

To register for the workshop, visit http://ucanr.edu/weworkshop. All workshops are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with registration starting at 9 a.m.
