Growing Orchids in Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara County Master Gardeners announce a free public workshop entitled “Growing Orchids in Santa Barbara” to be presented on Saturday, March 3, 2018, from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in the Faulkner Gallery of the Santa Barbara Central Library, 40 E. Anapamu Street in downtown Santa Barbara. 

Instructors: Master Gardener Leonard Grabowski is an orchid enthusiast with a collection of outdoor orchids that he enjoys. Donald Brown is a retired professor from UCSB who has been managing orchids for many years as an expert grower and demonstrator.

Topics: how to select and grow many of the most popular orchids easily. Basic growing tips including environmental factors such as light levels, watering, planting media, and fertilizing, as well as how to deal with common problems will be presented.

Winter Deciduous Pruning Clinic

Free Public Event presented in Partnership with California Rare Fruit Growers.  Learn the principles of how to prune common fruiting trees in small, guided groups on Saturday, January 20, 2018, from 10:00 am-1:00 pm at Mesa Harmony Garden, corner of Meigs Road & Dolores Drive in Santa Barbara.  Street parking available on Dolores.  Please bring your own clean pruning shears and/or loppers.

Houseplant Jungle: A Guide to Indoor Gardening
